WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

This 2008 presentation of the annual “Hot Tips” program is one that you cannot miss. The agenda includes eleven interesting, timely,
practical and varied topics, taught by an outstanding faculty.

Of course you will learn about all of the recent significant developments in workers’ compensation rules, procedures and case law
during the past year, from Commissioner Jeffrey Herwig and long-time practitioner Wallace Kleid. You will also hear from a noted orthopedic surgeon about cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery. A respected and experienced certified disability management specialist/rehabilitation service provider will discuss the role of attorneys in vocational rehabilitation.

An impressive group of veteran workers’ compensation practitioners will also offer observations and advice on: the effect of uninsured
motorist coverage in workers’ compensation claims; how to maximize social security benefits in your case; practice tips and potential traps in handling claims in Maryland, Virginia & D.C.; the pluses and minuses of mediating cases; how to allocate medical expenses in settlement agreements; the necessity of your vocational expert’s establishing industrial loss on the appeal of a case; and advice on handling claims that fall under the Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.

In addition to a great learning opportunity, you’ll have time to network with colleagues and make new contacts among attendees who
consider this highly regarded annual presentation to be a required component of their professional development plan.
