WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
In the elder law practice area, attorneys unfortunately too often encounter
elder abuse in the community and in long term care facilities. But to be
effective advocates, attorneys need to know not only how to identify signs of
abuse, but what resources are available to assist in stopping and preventing
future abuse. Attend Elder Abuse and Neglect in the Community and in Long
Term Care Facilities and learn about the issues involved and resources
available to protect and defend clients and their families, including: abuse and
neglect in the community; using the Ombudsman from the local Department of
Aging; reporting and investigation of abuse in long term care facilities by the
Office of Health Care Quality; prosecution of a nursing home negligence and
abuse case; abuse of vulnerable adults through powers of attorney and forced
transfer; and prosecution of offenders of both physical and financial abuse.
Attorneys and other professionals dealing with the elderly and disabled will
gain a practical understanding of how to help their clients and better serve
their client’s needs.
