WHAT YOU WILL LEARN & WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

The Advanced Real Property Institute is back for its 19th year, tackling some of the hottest topics and latest developments that all Real Estate professionals MUST know to stay on top of their game. The 19th Annual Advanced Real Property Institute will offer an in depth look at the most compelling issues in Maryland real estate. With practical discussions and valuable hot tips, the Institute will bring you up to speed on all of the most important information and will give you the competitive advantage you need to provide your clients with the best results.

This year's Institute features three plenary sessions in the morning and nine concurrent break-out sessions in the afternoon. ARPI 2008 begins with a compelling case study of a troubled condominium development. A panel of experienced pros will analyze and discuss the different perspectives and interests and offer practical insight into how to resolve the issues surrounding the troubled project. Then we'll examine how the doctrine of strict liability for contaminated property has become less strict. During lunch we'll hear from the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance's President/CEO Otis Rolley, III about the most significant transportation infrastructure concerns facing the state in the next five years. During the afternoon's concurrent break-out sessions, you can choose the sessions that are most important to your practice. Considerable attention will be paid to the various aspects of Maryland's new foreclosure law and process, including: a case study illustrating how the new rules work; an examination of the new emergency legislation; and a discussion of new trends in consumer credit law highlighted by the Protection of Homeowners in Foreclosure Act 's prohibitions on mortgage fraud and foreclosure rescue scams. We'll also look at how to balance the interests in leasing green buildings and sustainable development; how public-private partnerships really work best; the impact of the new Maryland rules governing the transfer of controlling interests; the revised AIA forms; new challenges to waterfront development based on recent changes to the state's critical areas law; and practical suggestions for drafting lease insurance provisions that actually work. Interspersed among all of these great CLE presentations are five breaks to allow you plenty of time to network with other attendees and to touch base with your office. Plus, your ARPI 2008 registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, and the concluding cocktail reception.
