For years, Allan J. Gibber has been one of Maryland’s leading estate practitioners. In addition to pursuing his successful legal career, he has contributed his time and expertise to the Probate Reform Committee of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Registers of Wills. Mr. Gibber is a past Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association Section of Estate and Trust Law, and has also served as special consultant to the Probate Rules Subcommittee of the Rules Committee of the Court of Appeals of Maryland. Aside from contributing the untold hours of research, organization and writing involved in authoring Gibber on Estate Administration in its original and subsequent editions, Mr. Gibber frequently lectures on the subject.

What you will learn & why you should attend...

Administering Estates is a six-week comprehensive course presenting the fundamental and practical concepts of estate administration, with an emphasis on the Maryland probate and estate tax provisions. Topics to be covered include: Orphans’ Court procedures and forms; the appraisal process; tax on non-probate assets; claims; expenses and fees; distributions including special problems of minors; funding marital deductions bequests; intestacy; unlocated heirs; and lapse and special probate procedures. This evening course is designed for attorneys who practice in the area of Estate and Trust law, paralegals who assist in the area of Estate and Trust law, Registers of Wills, Orphans’ Court Judges, and anyone involved in the administration of an estate. Each registrant will receive the new Gibber on Estate Administration, Fifth Edition (2008) as the course materials.
