Murphy and Grimm's Comparative Guide to the Maryland and Federal Rules of Evidence
Murphy & Grimm’s Comparative Guide to the Maryland and Federal
Rules of Evidence is arranged in five practical and easy to use chapters. The
first two chapters contain the text of the Maryland Rules of Evidence with
committee notes, sources & cross-references, and the text of the Federal Rules
of Evidence with advisory committee notes. Chapter Three provides an overview,
summary and comparison of the provisions of the Maryland Rules of Evidence and
the Federal Rules of Evidence, discusses the differences between the rules, and
includes practice pointers for litigators in federal and state courts. Chapter
Four presents a closer comparative look at five areas of special significance:
opinion testimony; character evidence; hearsay; the original writing rule; and
computer-generated evidence. Chapter Five is comprised of a quick A to Z
reference guide to the rules that sets forth the basis for admissibility of
evidence and the basis for objections to admissibility of evidence under both
the Maryland and Federal Rules of Evidence. A user-friendly Index and tables of
cases and authorities round out the book.
Chief Judge Murphy of the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland and Chief
Magistrate Judge Grimm of the United States District Court for the District of
Maryland are the undisputed masters of evidence law. MICPEL is pleased and proud
to present Murphy & Grimm’s Comparative Guide to the Maryland and Federal Rules
of Evidence to Maryland’s Bar and Bench.
